who are we ?:

The group of beautifully restored buildings at Torre Doganiera, which takes its name from the ancient custom tower, dating from around 1100 a.C., makes a sophisticated contribution to the range of agriturismo accomodation in Tuscany.

Situated on an old etruscan trading route and backed by the woodlands of the Senesi hills, with extensive open meadowland in front, the property stands about 350 meters above sea level and is only about 1200 metres from the centre of the village of Pievescola, with its Romanesque church, 2 bars, a little supermarket and a restaurant.

Torre Doganiera provides every comfort in three quiet and spacious apartments, commanding superb panoramic views of the Tuscan countyside and the distant prospect of san Gimignano and Volterra.

Closer to hand excursions in to the wooded hills, rich in Chestnuts and evergreen Oaks, may be rewarded by the discovering of the ruins of the early medieval castle and settlement or, with a little patience and good fortune, the sight of fallow deer, wild boar, fox, porcupine and hawks.

Torre Doganiera is also well positioned to serve as a convenient point of departure for a variety of cultural excursions: there are main Etruscan necropoli within easy reach throughout the area; the nearness and beauty of Siena invites repeated visits and San Galgano, San gimignano, Volterra and Florence all lie within an hours drive at most.

Little more than 20 minutes away by road the thermal bath of  Terme delle Galleraie and, little more than 40 minutes away the Terme of Petriolo, a very wonderful place, offer every kind of therapy involving wallowing in hot water, sulphur and mud!

The more airy delights of the Mediterranean coast can be reached by car about an hours easy driving.

Agriturismo at Torre Doganiera certenly doen't means roughing it. The apartment have air conditionind heating for winter comfort, telephone (but only switchboard line) and TV including wide ranging Satellite reception, VHS and DVD record and replay facilities. A security system minimizes the risk of gas leakage, fire and theft (there is a safe).

Horse riding is available in many structure all around and tennis and swimming pool are some 15 minutes away.
